The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
In part 2 of the value of Prayer the importance of Prayer how to pray is emphasized using the ACTS Model as a helpful guide. Prayer is how Christians can spend time with God and experience deep spiritual fulfillment and connection. This prayer model is designed to aid in creating meaningful conversations, allowing you to focus your thoughts and words during prayer time.
A – Adoration
The Prayer model begins with adoration. This is the time to focus on God and genuinely appreciate Him for who He is—His name, character, roles, and more. You can worship and praise God with all your heart, mind, and voice, recognizing His holiness, might, kindness, graciousness, and love.
“I will extol you, my God and King and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. (Psalm 145:1-6)
“Stand up and bless the LORD your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. You are the LORD, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you” (Nehemiah 9:5-6).
“Holy, holy, holy is The Lord God Almighty, Who was, and is, and is to come”(Revelation 4:8)
C – Confession
Recognizing God for who He is and worshiping Him is essential in our spiritual journey. Confessing our sins is crucial in deepening our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Acknowledging our shortcomings makes us more accountable to God, strengthening our bond. It’s comforting to know that God is faithful and forgiving, always ready to embrace us with love and understanding.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit” (Psalm 51:10-13)
“Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!” (Psalm 25:4-7)
T – Thanksgiving
During this time, expressing gratitude for the blessings you’ve received is important. Take a moment to thank the divine for your salvation, the abundance of blessings, protection, opportunities, and the gifts bestowed upon you. Whether these blessings are of a physical or spiritual nature, express your heartfelt gratitude to the Creator. Let your heart overflow with gratitude as you acknowledge the many blessings in your life.
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100)
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered (1 Chronicles 16:7-36)
S – Supplication
This is a moment to lay everything before God and open your heart completely. Share openly and honestly what’s on your mind and where you need God’s help, guidance, and healing. It’s vital to also pray for the needs that others have shared with you and to offer support through Prayer. Ask God for His divine help to meet needs, solve problems, and work in someone’s life, but remember that Prayer is about more than just asking for things – it’s also a form of worship. During Prayer, you must bring your specific requests to God for yourself and others.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7)
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (I Timothy 2: 1-4)
Finally, Oswald Chambers further describes Prayer as the “breathe in our lungs and the blood from our hearts.” It is as vital as breathing each day to oxygenate the blood in our bodies. It is a continuous and nonstop process of life and Christ taught us how to pray to God every day.
Lord’s Prayer
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:9-13)
