IBCM Values: Faithful and Generous Stewardship

Back to Updates

Proverbs 3: 5-10: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

The fourth article in the Core Values series delves deeply into our core value of Faithful and Generous Stewardship, a principle that stands at the heart of IBCM’s mission. This value underscores our unwavering commitment to a holistic approach in reaching, equipping, sending, and providing steadfast support for God’s expansive harvest and His dedicated workers. Our practice of generous, faithful biblical stewardship is a guiding light in our ministry, nurturing and strengthening the various churches and ministries we support while consistently emphasizing the importance of transparent and accountable practices. These practices enable us to remain steadfast in our mission and actions, in line with the message conveyed in Acts 4:32-34.

At its core, biblical stewardship empowers us to harness our time, talents, and treasures in ways that glorify God and advance His message across the globe. This stewardship calls us to recognize our blessings and manage them according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As followers of Christ, we hold a profound responsibility to be faithful stewards of all we possess—this includes our material resources, financial contributions, and unique talents we each bring to the table. Acknowledging that everything we have ultimately belongs to God reinforces our understanding of stewardship as a management role, where we utilize His gifts for His glory.

Trusting in God’s divine provision is foundational to our stewardship, inspiring us to share generously with those in need. This generosity reflects our understanding of God’s abundance and fosters community and connection. Therefore, Biblical stewardship becomes more than just a financial principle; it transforms into an empowering approach to life. It recognizes God’s sovereignty over all aspects of existence, urging us to manage all that He has entrusted us faithfully.

This stewardship encompasses multiple dimensions—financial, community engagement, relational responsibilities, and spiritual depth—challenging believers to live with intention and accountability. In doing so, we create a culture of mutual support and encouragement, embodying the love of Christ in all we do. Ultimately, faithful and generous stewardship shapes our mission and identity, guiding us to live purposefully as we carry out the work God has called us to fulfill.

Our God is Jehovah Jireh – the Lord who provides.
