Yesterday morning, K-Love played something truly uplifting: Tauren Wells singing “Joy in the Morning.” His lyrics struck a chord, reminding us that even when life feels like it’s falling apart, there’s a purpose behind it all—often beyond our understanding. The assurance that joy will come, thanks to God’s grace, is a beautiful reminder that hope is always on the horizon.
Life has a way of taking unexpected turns. We may think we’re following the path God laid out for us, yet challenges still arise. The words from Jeremiah 29:11-13 echoed in my mind: “For I know the plans I have for you… plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and hope.” These verses resonate deeply, reminding us that our worth isn’t dictated by our circumstances but by our relationship with Jesus. It’s in connection with unconditional love and unwavering support that we find the strength to navigate life’s ups and downs.
God calls us to focus on Him rather than getting tangled up in our plans. As it says in James 4:14-15, “you do not know what tomorrow will bring… Instead, you ought to say, ‘if the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.'” This shift in perspective allows us to uncover the unique journey God has designed for each of us—one filled with hope, promise, and growth. By anchoring our identity in Christ, we unlock a life brimming with divine intention and boundless possibilities.
Psalm 37:23 beautifully captures this sentiment: “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him.” The New Living Translation adds that “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Isn’t it comforting to know that every step we take is guided by someone who genuinely cares for us?
As we cultivate our relationship with Christ, we become ever more aware of His presence, especially during life’s storms. He is our anchor and firm foundation, as stated in Matthew 7:24-27 and Hebrews 6:19. This solid rock foundation empowers us to tackle challenges head-on, with the knowledge that we’re not alone. Just like Daniel wasn’t alone in the Lion’s Den and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not alone in the fiery furnace, we aren’t alone in our struggles. God is with us every step of the way!
Reflection:
In a world that often overlooks the love and mercy of Jesus Christ, Romans 9:15-16 states, “For he says to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.'”
Jesus extends an invitation for us to find refuge and strength in Him, as expressed in Psalm 18:30. He is in control of every aspect of our lives, both seen and unseen. Through Him, we can discover true peace, relief from our burdens, and rest for our weary souls. Trusting in Him can fundamentally change how we perceive our worries and challenges.
